Where can we park?

Free parking for large vehicles is located across the street from the Mariner’s Park. Free parking for small vehicles is located across the street from Dolly’s Fish Market.

How do I get to Prince Rupert?
  • Prince Rupert is located in Northern British Columbia.
  • Air Canada – Departs from Vancouver – 2 hour flight
  • Drive – Depart Vancouver – 2 (8 hour) days
  • BC Ferries – Departing from Port Hardy on Vancouver Island – one day
  • Via Rail – Departs from Jasper/Vancouver – 2 to 3 days trave
What should we wear?

We recommend that you dress in layers, including a waterproof layer, and wear comfortable walking shoes.

What size is the vessel? How many passengers can you take?

The MV Inside passage is a 72-foot catamaran registered for 100 passengers. Smaller vessels are also available for custom charters.

Do you offer Hotel pick up?

We do not currently offer Hotel pick up.  Skeena Taxi phone # 250-624-2185.

Do you provide lunch, what if I have dietary restrictions?

On the grizzly bear tour only we provide a complimentary light lunch consisting of a deli sandwich and a beverage of your choice.  If you have dietary restrictions or food allergies you are welcome to bring along the food that you require.

Can we bring food?

We have snacks and beverages available for purchase, however you can bring your own snacks as well.

When is the best time of year to go Whale Watching?

Peak season for whale watching tours is August and September, however we frequently see whales on the grizzly bear tour during June and July.

When is the best time of year to see grizzly bears in the Khutzeymateen Inlet?

Spring and early summer is the best time to see grizzlies in the Khutzeymateen Inlet.  Each month is a unique viewing experience.  Mating season begins in mid-May and will last for approx. 3 weeks.  June and July is when mom’s will bring their cubs to the seashore to feed and learn some of life’s lessons.

How close do we get to the grizzly bears?

All grizzly bear tours are from boat, and passengers do not disembark for land. We stay a safe distance from the bears so as not to disturb them in their natural habitat.

Why don’t you offer the grizzly bear tour in August and September?

In August the grizzly bears will leave the shore and move further up into the rivers and streams to feed on the spawning Salmon.

When is the best time of year to go Whale Watching?

August and September are peak viewing months for whale watching in the Chatham Sound area.

Do you provide binoculars?

We carry a limited number of binoculars that we share with adults.

Are your prices in Canadian dollars?

Yes, all prices are in Canadian dollars.

What is your cancellation policy?

We appreciate 48-hour notice of cancellation.

How early do we need to book?

To avoid disappointment, we highly recommend booking as soon as possible.

What if the weather is bad?

The tours depart rain or shine, unless there is a severe weather warning that could compromise a safe sailing.

Are the tours mobility accessible?

A certain amount of mobility is required to get up/down the access ramp.  Please contact our office is discuss the level of mobility.

Do you offer tours in other languages?

Our guide’s speak English.

Do you provide life jackets?

Personal flotation devices are available for all passengers.

Are there any age restrictions?

We accept all ages. Young children should be supervised by their parents at all times for safety reasons.

Is tipping included and if not, how much should I budget?

Tipping is not included in the price of the tour. If you enjoyed your tour and would like to show appreciation to the crew, tips are welcome at your discretion.

Do you have a wait list?

During peak months we make a wait list available for sold-out tours.

Are prices per person?

Yes.

Can I change the date of my tour after I have reserved?

Yes, you are welcome to change the date of your tour providing there is availability.

Do you have gift certificates available?

Yes, we have gift certificates available online and instore.

How do I redeem a gift certificate?

Electronic gift certificates can be redeemed online or in-store. Please call our office during office hours or visit us in store to redeem physical gift certificates.

Do I need to bring cash?

We appreciate cash on board the vessel however credit cards are accepted. Payment will be processed when we return to cell service.

Do you take credit cards?

We take Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

How much walking is involved?

Walking is required to and from the access ramp on the pier.  Once on board the vessel you can move about freely.  We stay on board the vessel for the entire tour.

Is smoking allowed?

No smoking of any kind is permitted on the vessel.

Can I bring my baby stroller?

For safety reasons, we are required to keep aisles free of obstructions. If you require a stroller to board the vessel, we will ask you to store it for the duration of the trip.

Are there toilet facilities on board?

There are two marine washrooms on board the vessel.

What size lens should I use?

Our Captain/Photographer recommends a 300 mm lens.

Can I bring a tripod?

For the consideration of other passengers, we appreciate mono pods only.

Are pets allowed?

No, we do not allow pets on board.
